What Samsung charges to replace a Galaxy screen in Canada

Samsung Canada publishes recommended out-of-warranty repair prices for its authorized service partners. These are the figures listed on September 27, 2026, in Canadian dollars, for parts and labour, before tax.

Samsung notes that these are recommended prices only and that its service partners can set their own. It also says a phone doesn't qualify for the cheaper screen-only repair if the frame is damaged or the battery is swollen.

Screen repair vs. screen module: what's the difference?

Samsung lists two options. A screen repair replaces just the front display. A screen module replaces the display together with the metal frame (the bezel) and the battery, which is why it costs more. The module makes sense when the frame is bent or the battery is worn out anyway; a screen-only repair is the better deal when the rest of the phone is healthy.

Why the fingerprint sensor matters

Galaxy S phones read your fingerprint through the screen, using a sensor that sits underneath the display. That has two consequences for a repair:

• The replacement must be an OLED screen. Budget LCD-type screens are thicker and can't pass your fingerprint through to the sensor, so the in-screen reader stops working. They're cheaper for a reason.
• The sensor needs care during the repair. It has to be transferred or fitted correctly and your fingerprints registered again afterwards. That's why these repairs take one to two hours instead of 30 minutes.

Some screen protectors also get in the way of in-screen fingerprint readers. If yours stopped working after a new protector, try one sold as compatible with your model before assuming the phone is broken.

What independent shops in Ottawa charge

Independent repair shops set their own prices, so quotes vary. Like with iPhones, the price mostly depends on the part: a genuine Samsung service screen costs the most, a quality aftermarket OLED less, and an LCD-type screen the least (with the fingerprint trade-off above).
